About the Journal

The Annals of Tropical Research (Ann. Trop. Res. | ATR) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal established in 1979 by Visayas State University. The journal follows an open-access model and is indexed in DOAJ, and it is a signatory of the BOAI. It is included in the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) journal list by the Australian Research Council (Journal ID: 5237) and recognized by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED). As of September 2025, ATR has been officially accepted for indexing in Scopus.

The journal, which is published semiannually (in June and December), is fully funded by Visayas State University (VSU) and, therefore, does not impose article processing or publication fees.

Aims and Scope

The Annals of Tropical Research aims to disseminate scientific findings from research and development initiatives related to tropical upland, lowland, and marine ecosystems, including the communities that depend on them. It provides a platform for local and international scholars to share knowledge that advances sustainable development and scientific understanding in the tropics.
